I love your comment. And I love so many of Rilke's poems. I love many of Auden's poems too. "In Praise of Limestone" is, in my opinion, one of the greatest poems of the 20th century -- better than "The Wasteland" even. This is what I think. And the main image and idea underlying it partly inspired my latest novel. Both Rilke and Auden were, in their own way, snobs. But they both loved poetry and lived for it, and they both wrote many, many great poems, and they were both true artists.
