I've felt this before -- almost exactly this. Except the circumstances in my situation -- the circumstances surrounding it at first and then flooding it and toward the end now threatening to engulf me -- were not circumstances primarily composed of opposites but something much more treacherous: an uncanny compatibility, once in a lifetime, it seems to me. It seems to me still. Not oil and water but water and wild thyme. Water and waves. Figures cut from the same dark fabric of the nighttime sky.
