I often dream about my characters -- and I don't just mean while I'm writing them and trying to bring them up off the page. I mean afterward. I mean now and forever. This is perhaps a little personal to put out there in a public comment, I know, but that's okay. It's a confirmation of your deep insight here, and it's something I think a great deal about: how much my characters have come alive inside my mind and my heart. Not just my own characters, though, but the characters I most admire from movies and books. It's a profound phenomena that's endlessly fascinating to me, and I never get tired of thinking about it. It's as deep as the ocean, and it drives down to the core of the human mind and our conceptual apparatus.
